Courageous Leadership: NW Vineyard Regional Conference 2014

You give so much. Now it's time to receive.
It is our desire to minister to, bless and encourage you in all that you are currently holding, wrestling with and dreaming about.

CHRISTIAN COUNSELING

We have licensed professional counselors who are volunteering their time for you to consult with for an hour. They are there to assist you with processing marital, family, or relational challenges as well as any other personal issues you may be facing. The Lord often uses wise counselors to help us take our next steps forward into a healthier life. You can sign up as an individual or couple .

PRAYER

Picture
Immanuel Prayer is an inner healing model in which we ask Jesus to minister to us in the depths of our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and memories. A trained person will help you connect more intimately with Jesus, resolve past pain, and discern God’s ongoing guidance. It is best if you sign up as an individual.

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

Spiritual Direction is an ancient practice where one disciple serves as a guide and conversation partner, helping another disciple to “see what the Father is doing” not just in that moment, but over the months of one’s life. The Holy Spirit is the true director and thus, in spiritual direction one person asks exploratory questions, listens deeply, and hosts the space for you to discern together the movement of God’s Spirit in your life. This ministry works best if you sign up as an individual.

Pam Jones and husband Don have been a part of the Vineyard Church in Pearland, TX since 2000 where she serves on pastoral council in addition to various roles in small groups and women’s ministry. Her heart’s desire is to see others, particularly women, reveal the image of God imprinted on their souls. Her desire to accompany others along the spiritual journey led to being trained in the art of spiritual direction, a ministry she now offers in and through the church. On weekdays, you’ll find her at MD Anderson Cancer Center where she passionately works as a research administrator.

Bob Kehl and wife Pat have been a part of the Vineyard Church Pearland, Texas since 2000.  In the Vineyard, he has served on the pastor’s council and other roles with other churches. Bob participated in the Vineyard USA inaugural group trained in spiritual direction.  He has found great satisfaction and joy in offering himself as a listener and “soul friend” to men and women walking out their journey with Jesus Christ.  He receives regular spiritual direction also.

Renae Norwood  lives in Sugar Land, Texas with her home builder husband of 37 years.  She is a graduate of Houston Baptist University and has been in the Vineyard since 1989.  She has been involved in spiritual direction for four years and has hosted and now co-leads the training cohorts in her home.  Spiritual direction has been a source of deep satisfaction and growth for her.  She considers it a privilege and a joy to join others as they look for God’s invitations in their lives and their responses to Him.

Brigid Smith lives in Beaverton, Oregon with her family of 6 and currently attends Hillsboro Vineyard.  Listening and praying have long been passions of hers. She was originally trained in Living Waters and has helped lead CrossCurrent groups and has loved serving on prayer teams.  In discovering Spiritual Direction, she has found it to be an amazing and sweet process.  Trained with Dave Nixon in Sustainable Faith's School of Spiritual Direction, she loves the quiet, slow work of God and walking beside others as God works in them.

Picture
Sidney Shepherd lives in Aloha, Oregon, outside of Portland.  She is in the process of planting a Vineyard house church that just sprang into motion this past spring.  Since receiving training with Dave Nixon through Sustainable Faith's School of Spiritual Direction, she has been offering and receiving spiritual direction and has found great joy and honor in sitting with people.  Although Sidney has spent years in prayer ministry, she finds profound humility and respect for the Trinity in partnering with others to help them see, hear, and feel where God is moving in their life, calling to their soul.

Owen Brock  and wife Sandie have been a part of the urban, community oriented Vineyard Central church for over twenty years, serving in various contexts as house church leaders, pastoral council members and now as mentoring elders. Owen has received training through Sustainable Faith’s School of Spiritual Direction with Dave Nixon.  Owen believes that our understanding of the spiritual life must evolve as we discover that faith can sometimes be comforting, sometimes confrontational, and sometimes a mystery to be held as God calls us to plunge into the dangerous and beautiful current of His kingdom.
